Maine's lighthouses face troubling recovery

Back-to-back storms slammed into the coast of Maine on Jan. 10 and Jan 13, breaking state records for the highest tides since 1978 and delivering extensive damage along the entire coastline.

Lorain Lighthouse (OH) seeks votes as Best on Lake Erie

The Lorain Lighthouse Foundation Inc. is hoping that area residents will cast a ballot for the Lorain Lighthouse as Best Lighthouse on Lake Erie, according to a news release.

Quinn's Lighthouse (CA) returns: Oakland's 40-year institution is now Vietnamese

Tears were shed into beers when the news arrived this January that Quinn's Lighthouse - a historic waterfront restaurant in downtown Oakland that had operated for 40 years straight - was shutting down.

Commentary: First proof that African American laborers helped build the Cape Hatteras (NC) Lighthouse

As a researcher and historian of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, one question that has been asked of me several times is, "Do we know if any Black laborers were involved in the building of the lighthouse?" Invariably, my response has been, "No, not that I am aware of."
